Two sessions on Careers Conversations were a highlight of the First Commonwealth Chemistry Congress which took place virtually in May 2021. These sessions were very popular with early career chemists and so the participants agreed to provide consent to allow the recordings to be made readily available on line so that as many early career chemists as possible can benefit from them, so we do hope you take advantage of these. Recordings from both sessions are now available as on demand resources.
Session 1 features:
- Sarah Masters, University of Canterbury New Zealand
- Sandeep Verma, Indian Science and Engineering Research Board, India
- Mahesh Sanganee, Evotec, UK
- Peter Mallon (Chair), Stellenbosch University, South Africa
Session 2 features:
- Deborah Nicoll-Griffith, Paragon Inc., Canada
- Michael Forde, University of the West Indies, Trinidad & Tobago
- Leontios Philoteou, Kyprianides & Associates, Cyprus
- Romeela Mohee, Higher Education Commission, Mauritius
- Marvadeen Singh-Wilmot (Chair), University of the West Indies, Jamaica
During the webinar you will hear chemists from across the Commonwealth talk about their career journeys. From academia, to industry, to consultants and work in government. The ‘question and answer’ sessions are also included within the recording which allowed for the live audience to ask specific questions about:
- career development
- expanding skill sets
- barriers being faced
- advice for those early in their career
- mentors and advocates
